Fire and Knives Program; Burn Spoons

Great program for adults and Knife Safety Certified Youth over 12! Combine Fire Safety and Building with Knife Safety and Carving to learn and practice primitive skills using coals and tools to for crafting kitchen utensils such as cooking spoons and bowls. Put those carving skills to work learning about nature connection traditions while creating a beautiful handmade object. Registration is $45 for the class, or $60 if you want a new Morakniv Companion fixed blade knife to keep. *Youth 12 and up are welcome to join this class, however youth under 18 must be Knife Safety Certified through SOLC to participate. Knives are a privilege and carving rights can be revoked. Knife Safety Certification can be completed during our class 9/15/2018, or by appointment for $40.

Fire and Knives Program; Friction Fire Kits
Saturday Dec. 1st 12:00 pm- 6:00 pm
Great program for adults and Knife Safety Certified Youth! Have you ever wanted to start a fire from natural materials? This class will combine the tools and techniques of knife carving and fire to demonstrate a variety of friction fire making tools. We will also go over the best materials and resources to use in different scenarios, and harvest materials from the land at SOLC. Each participant will create and carve their own friction fire kit to take home!
Registration is $45 for the 6 class, or $60 if you want a new Morakniv Companion fixed blade knife to keep. For those who want a MoraKniv fixed blade to keep- please register at least two weeks in advance of class.
*Youth are welcome to join this class, however youth under 18 must be Knife Safety Certified through SOLC to participate. Knives are a privilege and carving rights can be revoked. Knife Safety Certification can be completed by appointment for $40 each student. Repeat students receive a 10% discount.

License to Carry Handgun Training - This course is for Texas residents who would like to apply for a license to carry handguns and in delivered in accordance with DPS requirements. The course covers the legal requirements of carrying a handgun which is followed by a multiple choice examination and Shooting Proficiency Test. Summer may be over, but it is the perfect time to Fall in love with the Seguin Outdoor Learning Center! We want to thank everyone in the surrounding community and our valued guests for the incredible 2018 Summer, and your continued support! More than 300 happy campers came through the property over Summer and twice as many mountain bikers. Fall is just around the corner and we have some incredible events planned on our calendar for all ages, including programs using, fire, knives, plus another Star Party, and a unique Pumpkin Carving evening. Please see our calendar for more details and save the dates to be part of the fun.

Are you a teacher, or do you have school aged youth? Get your school involved with the SOLC where we blend academia and adventure in TEKS aligned outdoor education programs on our 116 acres of South Central Texas adventure! From Water Quality and Aquatic Investigations, to Archery and Creative Expression, there is something for every age and classroom. Homeschool? Pre K? We have programs for you too! The SOLC isn't just for kids! We offer all of our programs for all ages and groups, and affordable facilities available for rental. Fall is the perfect time to get your group of adults together for outdoor adventure and camping, or host a reunion party or destination wedding under our beautiful pavilion. Bring a group of friends or co-workers out for an unforgettable teambuilding experience on our Ropes Challenge Course, or campout and enjoy exploring our mountain bike trails and pump skills park, fishing pond and creek, and even try your hand at skeet shooting.
