Our School Field Trips are set up as an a la carte menu of activities that range from TEKS oriented Science and Math Studies  
that will target the objectives required by the Texas Education Agency to High Adventure Programs designed to provide unique  
experiences that build confidence, communication skills and teamwork.  Our motto is Education through Experience, let us build an
experience your students will never forget!

Course Descriptions      
       
  Get to Know a Tree      
  Ever asked how old is that tree or how tall is it?  This class will show you simple ways to answer those  
  questions along with other useful facts about trees.  Class size limited to 18 students.    
       
  Into the Pond      
  Aquatic life is diverse and in our very own pond that remains true.  Participants will have a chance to  
  study the various aquatic life forms found around the pond and creek.  Class size limited to 18 students.  
       
  Erosion Study      
  What is erosion and what are the factors that contribute to it?  Is it ever beneficial to have?  Answer these  
  questions here!  Class size limited to 18 students.      
       
  Walk the Trail Hunt      
  Go on a nature hike and learn to identify various plants, animals and insects.  Also be on the lookout  
  for what might be called home!  Class size limited to 18 students.      
       
  What is Soil?      
  Learn what effects soil has on water filtration as well as how soil is made.  Class size limited to 18  
  students.      
       
  Fish Prints      
  Learn about fish anatomy, body shape and other adaptations that give certain fish an advantage.  Students  
  will print a fish outline and be able to distinguish the different areas.  This lesson can also be joined with  
  fishing or aquatic studies to round out the lesson.  Class size limited to 18 students.    
       
  Hey, It's a Fossil      
  Ever asked how a fossil is made?  Learn the process in this class as well as make your own fossil  
  paperweight.  Class size limited to 18 students.      
       
  Rocket Science      
  Want a fun way to teach kids how to form hypothesis and how to draw graphs?  This is the class made for  
  guessing and fun!  Class size limited to 18 students.      
       
  A Watershed Speaks!      
  What is a watershed?  Is it possible to measure the volume of rain falling on one?  These are all questions  
  that will be answered during the lesson.  Students will learn to identify watersheds and calculate water  
  volume.  Class size limited to 18 students.      
       
       
  Growing Crystals      
  Students will have the chance to learn about the various kinds of crystals such as ice/frost/snow, rocks  
  (quartz, diamonds) and salt/sugar.  Students will then have the chance to make their own crystal garden.  
  SPECIAL NOTE:  This course will require the crystal gardens to be transported back with the student and  
  cared for.      
       
  Launches      
  Students will have the chance to learn about the scientific method and launch objects!  By launching  
  objects of various sizes and weight, students will formulate conclusions and illustrate with a graph.  
       
  Glop Factory      
  Have your students learn about the wonders of oobleck.  What other object is solid when squeezed and  
  liquid with no surface tension?        
         
  Pollution Patrol      
  What is pollution and how does it end up in our water sources?  These are just a couple questions that  
  will be answered during this lesson.  Students will learn about how watersheds transport pollution  
  into our water and simple ways that it can be removed.      
         
  Track It!      
  Students will have the chance to play CSI with nature and use tracks to determine what events occurred  
  in the area.  By identifying various tracks, stories can be told about what animals came for water, what an  
  animal might have been hunting and so on.  Come see what nature can tell us!

  Circle Loom Weaving      
  Use a hand-held loom to weave a yarn bracelet, necklace or keychain…      
       
  Clothespin Critters      
  Use common art materials to design realistic or invented insects.  Can also be used to design a beetle,  
  which is also Texas' most diverse insect at 18,000 species.      
       
  Sand Painting      
  Take home an original design in colored sand.      
       
  Birds of Texas       
  Create a 3D paper bird of the imagination or common to Texas.      
       
  Bookmark Bobbers      
  Turn a fishing bobber into an everyday object.      
       
  Hand Prints of Nature      
  Use fingers and hands as brushes - to paint a pond or trail scene      
       
       
  Bubble Paper      
  Blow Paint Bubbles to create artistic paper!      
       
      Back to Arts  
  Archery      
  Learn safety, sound shooting techniques and get plenty of practice on our archery range.  We use  
  Matthews Genesis bows in our instruction which is the official bow of the National Archery in the Schools  
  Program.  We also have have several traditional recurve bows.      
       
  Shooting Sports      
  Learn to safely shoot BB/Pellet Guns, .22 calibar rifles and shotguns with us.    
       
  Fishing      
  Our stocked pond and pier will provide hours of catch and release fun!  Learn the basics of fishing such as  
  knots, bait and handling fish safely.      
       
  Canoeing/Kayaking      
  Learn to paddle safely on our pond and see that is the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.  Learn  
  different paddle strokes and safety basics.      
       
  Hiking      
  Our well mulched trails wind through the woods and interpretive signs along the way will teach you about  
  the various plants and trees.      
       
  Camping Skills      
  Learn the essentials of camping such as good tent site selection, pitching a tent, starting a fire, cooking   
  in the outdoors and map/compass use.  All skills learned will follow the Leave No Trace ethics for Outdoor  
  Adventure to teach responsibility in the outdoors.      
       
  Home Sweet Home      
  In this course, students will learn the basics of how to build a shelter in the wilderness.  Students will  
  work in a small group to develop a plan and build their own shelters.  Topics will also include Leave No  
  Trace practices.      
       
  Beginner Compass      
  This course provides a great introduction for students on how to plot a bearing with a compass.  Students  
  will find north with a compass and then complete a small course that guides them back to the starting  
  point.      
       
  Geocaching      
  This is a high tech scavenger hunt using GPS technology.  Learn the basics of the sport such as finding a  
  waypoint and placing one.  After one lesson you will be ready to apply those skills to seek out your own  
  hidden cache!  Want more info on this growing sport?

  Hit The Trail          
  Learn to leave behind signs telling people where to go to look for a special destination.  Useful for helping  
  rescuers and friends find your location or getting back to that favorite spot without a GPS.  
       
       
  Climbing Wall      
  Learn basic climbing technique and challenge yourself on our 45' vertical wall.    
       
  Giant Swing      
  Go for an extreme swing ride here at the center.  You will be attached to a cable and then pulled up to a  
  point that you wish to stop.  Let go of your release rope and enjoy the sensation of flying!  Also a great  
  class to teach momentum and energy.
